MCT Oil Mayonnaise: A Healthier Alternative
Mayonnaise is a staple condiment in many households, certainly mine. I currently live in Singapore, but it is just as widespread hear. You wouldn't guess this, but the Japanese love it as well. I have to make a determined effort to avoid it when I go out for sushi.
The unfortunate thing about traditional versions of mayonnaise often contain unhealthy fats and REALLY unhealthy additives. However, by substituting MCT oil for traditional oils, you can create a healthier alternative that not only tastes great but also offers several health benefits. Not to mention, it is the ideal condiment for your HCG 2.0 diet protocol.
MCT Oil: The Key Ingredient
MCT oil, short for medium-chain triglyceride oil, is a tasteless oil that is more readily absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract than traditional oils. This unique property makes it an excellent choice for mayonnaise as it creates a smooth and creamy texture without overpowering the taste of other ingredients.
But what sets MCT oil apart is its potential health benefits. Clinical studies published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (and Dr. Axe - one of my favs) have suggested that small changes in the quality of fat intake, such as incorporating MCT oil, can be useful for enhancing weight loss. Unlike long-chain fatty acids found in many traditional oils, MCTs are rapidly metabolized by the liver and are less likely to be stored as fat.
Furthermore, MCT oil has been linked to increased energy expenditure and satiety, making it an ideal addition to a weight loss or maintenance plan. Its ability to enhance ketone production also makes it popular among individuals following ketogenic diets.
Health Properties of Ingredients
1. **MCT Oil**: Besides its role in promoting weight loss, MCT oil has antimicrobial and antifungal properties, which may help support gut health and immune function.
2. **Balsamic Vinegar**: Rich in antioxidants, balsamic vinegar offers potential benefits for heart health and blood sugar control. It may also aid digestion and contribute to overall wellness.
3. **Apple Cider Vinegar**: Like balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar is praised for its health-promoting properties. It may help regulate blood sugar levels, support weight loss, and improve skin health.
4. **Olive Oil**: While traditional olive oil may not be used in MCT oil mayonnaise, it's worth mentioning its health benefits. Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats, which are associated with reduced inflammation and improved heart health. But save the olive oil for the Maintenance Phase of your HCG diet.
Why MCT Oil Mayonnaise is a Healthier Alternative for your HCG Diet
Compared to traditional mayonnaise made with unhealthy oils like soybean or canola oil, MCT oil mayonnaise offers several advantages:
- **Healthier Fats**: MCT oil is composed of medium-chain fatty acids, which are metabolized differently than long-chain fatty acids found in most oils. This difference in metabolism may contribute to weight loss and overall health.
- **Low Calorie**: When combined with vinegar and seasonings, MCT oil mayonnaise can be a lower calorie option compared to store-bought mayonnaise, which often contains added sugars and preservatives.
- **Gut Health Benefits**: MCT oil's antimicrobial properties may support a healthy gut microbiome, which is essential for digestion, immune function, and overall well-being.
In conclusion, MCT oil mayonnaise is a delicious and nutritious alternative to traditional mayo. By incorporating MCT oil and other wholesome ingredients like vinegar and seasonings, you can enjoy all the creamy goodness of mayo without compromising your weight loss goals.

1 cup mct oil.
Place 1st four ingredients in blender. With blender on high, slowly drizzle in the oil should take at least 60 secs to drizzle all in. You can blend in garlic for aoili or Sriracha for spicy. A tablespoon of mayo helps the tuna fish go down. Tbsp of mayo equal to 1 Tbsp mct oil.
The Sriracha twist though... brilliant!! I could add Sriracha to everything… and often do.
